Greetings and hallucinations fellow Ramblers, both of you. I hope you have had groovy weekend. After a few minor glitches two months ago, we are now once again in sync. It's Monday on both ends of the wibbly wobbly calendar. I did survive being fried toast and was able to get some much need R&R in yesterday. I'm still not fully recharged but I'm not a puddle of slime either.
The first thing across the news desk today; A man caught vandalizing the center divider on a California freeway was struck and severely injured by a passing truck.
"Evidently his mother never told him not to play in traffic."
I take stories such as the "Darwin Awards" with a grain of salt and more than a bit of skepticism, offering silent benedictions to all that may be holy, (yes, I'm still an an atheist), that humanity is not that stupid. Then, I'll see the weekly Snopes update, or hear the absolute dumb shit that people believe.
"It was on the Internet, it must be true."
Parts of the world are more ahem... sophisticated than is much of this part of the wastelands. There are beacons of hope here, just not as many as we need to guide the masses from the darkness of their stupidity. Case in point, spend a day sitting in the waiting areas of the local VA hospital. There are a lot of Faux news supporters, and CNN cursing.
We need more apex predators; lions, tigers, bears... velociraptors, to eat the stupid out of our gene pool. Maybe, just maybe we need to organize an Elite force of the GPR, gene pool rangers.
"This is not a drill, this is not a drill. Unauthorized swimming in the Gene Pool.
Muster the Gene Pool Rangers at the deep end of the Gene pool."
I leave you with this quote from one of the twentieth century's greatest philosophers.
“Think of how stupid the average person is,
and realize half of them are stupider than that.”
