"You're gonna need a bigger boat."

Theme from Jaws by John Williams on Grooveshark

I've enjoyed Steven Spielberg's film since I first saw it some thirty-five odd years ago.  I've read Peter Benchely's novel at least a couple of times, I've read about, researched, and watched several documentaries about the 1916 attack that inspired the story.  I've probably seen the movie in full more than twenty-five or thirty times.  I've lost track of the number of partial viewings I've caught on television.  In fact, Spike TV is hosting a JAWS marathon as I type.  I  tuned in tonight at the spot where I normally tune in, more on that later.  Now, I've sat through the 7:30 show and the 9:30 one is just beginning.  It's these partial viewings that bring me to the crux of my tale.  I have no scientific evidence to confirm my suspicions, but in a significant percentage of these I seem to tune in at one particular point in the film.  Unfortunately, it's not at my favorite scene, the "You're going to need a bigger boat." moment.  For some odd reason or another I really enjoy that scene.  I usually tune in at the point in which  Hooper, Brody and Quint are enjoying some down time in the cabin.  Hooper and Quint are comparing their battle scars when Robert Shaw portraying Quint.tells Brody about the aftermath of the sinking of the U.S.S Indianapolis.

Almost every time, it never seems to fail, I tune in to this point in the film.

Followed by this...

S'cuse me, I've got a movie to watch...
