In 1916 the battle of Gallipoli ended when the last Allied (United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Newfoundland, India, France and French West Africa) troops evacuated the Gallipoli peninsula. Brutal conditions and a brutally high casualty rate of 60% on both sides. Helluva way to fight a war guys.
In 1923 Juan de la Cierva made the first autogyro (a cross between an aeroplane and a helicopter) flight. Which is cool as I dig airplanes and aviation stuff. What, you didn't know that?
