Because we're here lad.

I decided this afternoon would be a perfect time to revisit one of my all time favorite films.  By some weird twist of fate, strange coincidence, subconscious suggestion or perhaps a rare Planetary Alignment it actually was the perfect time to watch it.  Exactly 137 years, to the day after the events portrayed in the film transpired, and 52 years after the film was released  I settled in on a cold January afternoon.

A little deductive Sherlocking can probably get you to a really good guess.  A film released in 1964, depicting events on the 22nd and 23rd of January, 1879.  Would it help if I said it was filmed on location in South Africa about 60 miles from the actual location of the Mission Station and was Michael Caine's first movie.   Despite being a "War" movie there was very little blood, and no gore.  The combat was melodramatic and just short of comical in places.  According to historical records the character portrayals were fictionalized, marginalized or ignored and there are some glaring historical inaccuracies.  That's okay, it is still a good story, and as I mentioned, one of my favorites.

I am of course talking about...

As always, thanks...
See you tomorrow.
